My wife and I are separating and I am concerned that she may not let me see our children. Is there anything I can do?
Taxi Legal can assist. Your rights depend upon your relationship with the mother of your children. If you are married then you should have “parental responsibilities and rights”, which every married parent has and which guarantee certain involvement in the raising of children. Even where you are shown on a child’s birth certificate, your rights may vary if you are not married to the mother. This depends on the date of birth of the child – if it was after 4th May 2006 then normally you will have the same rights as a married father.
How do we get a divorce?
There are a number of options open to you. If you are committed to separation, and marriage guidance is not something you are willing to consider, then Taxi Legal can help with mediation, collaboration, negotiation of a settlement of court action. We can also advise on separation agreements and divorce proceedings.
We are separating. Who gets the house?
Normally, the value of matrimonial property is split between a separating couple. Variations can be made in respect of property brought into the marriage, and there is an increasing tendency to try and agree or enforce pre-nuptial agreements.
My partner and I don’t want to get married, but would like a civil partnership. Is this open to us?
You should note that only same sex couples can register as civil partners.
